FALTU (2011)

It is the creation with innovation of a director who chooses the title of a movie. It is same with the movie ‘Faltu’. If we see linguistically the word faltu itself is not faltu for the movie. It is one of the life changing movies in Bollywood, though not hit as per market. It is like Sachin scores more than 100… but Team India has to congratulate the winning team.

Very easy going story line. 10 characters have given justification. I can say that the movie is all about the youngsters’ life. What to do, what not to do. If they score high, they can be accepted for further studies, otherwise sorry Boss, you’re not eligible.

The movie FALTU is a criticism on our education system. How can we believe that a student, who cannot get good numbers in exam, is a failure? FALTU teaches us and provides us a platform to rethink especially for parents & the institution (the so-called ‘system’). Does ‘study’ means to get a job? Do we study only for getting a good job? Friends ponder again and again. If it is so, we should quit studying. Think of Bill Gates who quit it, even Dhirubhai Ambani.

To sum up, I would like to quote Mahatma Gandhi’s lines, even Ashutosh Gowarikar has used them for his film ‘Swadesh’. The lines are:
“Hesitating to act because the whole vision might not be achieved. Or, because others do not yet share it, is an attitude that only hinders progress”.

Hope a change may come in Life for what you’re living

Dhobi Ghat (2011)

Silence. Dreams. Aloneness. The movie is all about. Silent though strong in its theme. That is why it’s ‘a’ aamir khan production. (I should not forget Mrs. Kiran Rio Khan)

Aamir is real actor in both the lives. With ‘Dhobit Ghat’ he has again shown his talent and bag to be the best producer. Scintillating one the story line is. Movie rounds around the four characters: a painter, a photographer, a dhobi and a wife. No one is happy at the present moments. Even the background music has the effect of loneliness. Mostly, night shots are taken. While watching this classic, I was remained of Ben Jonson’s theory of pathos. If Aamir knows it or not but the movie speaks about the pathos and how does it affect our life.

Dhobi Ghat is a movie of conversations. You won’t find dialogues. The picture of the movie is taken so realistic that we forget if we are in a theatre hall!!! Mumbai has been presented wonderfully well. A common man ‘ a dhobi’ dreams to be an actor. He tries to achieve the dream but give up as it happens in every day life with so many of us.

Aamir has presented himself as a painter. A painter, living his life lonely leaving his family. He accepts one girl, a photographer, from overseas. Both of them share physicality. But, typical Indian mindset comes into the picture in the morning. When the protagonist is preparing breakfast. He feels guilty of what he did at night. But, the lady is absolutely fine with what has happened. Here mindset clashes.

And one more character is a wife. She tells her story to her brother through a video. She is married though she looks alone. She cannot live her life and she shortens. One old lady is an eye-witness of that but doesn’t utter a single word. So, even I do not want to write a single word more. Just want to add that it is a movie for few. Artists. Intellectuals. If we can cultivate the taste of classic cimena, this is that one.

Dhirubhai Ambani

From centuries, Gujarat has been known for entreprenershipness. Even the Britishers started the journey from Surat, Gujarat by founding East India Company in the 16th century. So is the Guajarati famous for business mindedness. Business is in their blood.

I would like to tell you something about a gujarati whom we know as Dhirubhi Ambani. Dhirubhai is a personality of personalities. He is one of the leading persons who contributed in shaping India. Most of us like him because of his down-to-earth nature. He is a visionary and confirmed one. He had the will and made it reality not only for himself but also for the Aam Aadmi.

From his childhood, he was a stubborn. He started selling ‘Bhajias’ and that was the beginning of his journey as the best entrepreneur of the world. By his determination, he transformed himself from an ordinary to an extraordinary. Dhirubhai believed:

Hope is the most powerful weapon. Self confidence is the greatest asset.

And this is the foundation of Reliance. Even the greatness of this business guru is the word he chosen ‘reliance’ means confidence. He fought and achieved the success.

One more reason why Dhirubhai is Dhirubhai is because within 30-40 years of time he became the competitor for the companies which were well-known for centuries. Here, I would like to quote few lines from A.G. Krishnamurthy’s book ‘Dhirubhai Ambani : Against All Odds’. Mr. Krishnamurthy says :

“Dhirubhai and Reliance’s successes have been so phenomenal that most people are unable to see beyond the glitter of their wealth. Dhirubhai’s success was by no means a walk in the part. He gave the phrase ‘hard-earned success an entirely new dimension altogether. I have never seen anyone who worked so hard, despite the toughest challenges being thrown his way --- challenges that would have compeletely wrecked a less ordinary mortal. He ran into obstacles and hurdles every step of the way, right from his teenage years. But he persevered, nevertheless".

Dhirubhai proved that degree from any best school is not required to be an entrepreneur. Because, they are born from within. He lighted a spark for the yuth and inspired hundreds of thousands that with your courage you can do what you want to do.

This is for the entrepreneurs, leaders that go and watch Manirathnam’s Guru. Manirathnam sir has done a great job producing a movie on Dhirubhai’s life. This will ignite your spirit and give acceleration to achieve the dreams.
At last, I would like to mention that the MBAs from IIMs have worked under the primary educated person. This is what makes him Dhirubhai.

"Don’t give up. Courage is my conviction". Dhirubhai Ambani

Wishing you a glittering success.

IIM, Ahmedabad

Life is full of management. From the birth, a child’s journey starts on how to manage life. Each and every sphere needs to be managed. It means to be happy is not an accident but if one knows how to manage life, happiness comes and life become full of joy.

We can say that life is a management. So, let me tell you something about an institution that is fundamentally based on Management. It teaches about business management. This is one of the best management schools of India. We know it as IIM. Indian Institute of Management that is located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. There are six IIMs in India. But, one of the best and the most famous is IIM, Ahmedabad.

This is an institution where the talent of India and Abroad wants to study the fandas of business management. Why is the importance of it is because it focuses on Case Study. The faculty is one of the best in the industry.

Let me say that it is a paradise for the knowledge seekers if I am not exaggerating. Once you enter the gate, you can feel the vibrations. The institution makes you a Brand. And that is enough on starting base. You achieve an identity with which you can start your journey.

Harsha Bhogle, a cricket commentator, is one the talents from IIM, Ahmedabad. We can see that he hasn’t chosen any company to work with but smart enough and chose a different path. That’s the sharpness of IIM. Money is by product of what you do.

Chetan Bhagat is also an IIMians. We know the life journey of his. To write about IIM needs the pages to be filled than it may not be enough. This is dedicated to each and every talent of the world who really understands the value of education. If we can have few more in the education field, India will be called the 1st nation not the 3rd world (developing).

Stanley Ka Dabba

First of all, I would like to thank Amole Gupte for giving us a message through the heart touching story of Stanley. In one of the speeches, Honorable President of India, A.P.J. Abdul Kalaam said that the movies are the best instrument to spread awareness. He also added that Bollywood has power to change the lives. Because, the youngsters follow the heroes. Heroes are the ideals for some of us.

In this way, Amole Gupte has contributed a little. Those who have seen the movie, would be well aware of the story line. A school boy, named Stanley, comes to the school very early and without Tiffin Box : Dabba. Sometimes when he becomes hungry, he only drinks water and tries to satisfy insatiable hunger. His friends share their snacks with him.

A teacher, Mr.Varma(Amole Gupte), is presented as Khadus ( villion). Here, Amole sir has criticized some of the teachers in well defined manner. He used to have others’ Tiffin. He also asks the students to give their Tiffin to him. And, asks Stanley not to take from others’. Stanley’s friends do not like to share Tiffin with Mr. Varma, Khadus. Therefore, they start sharing the lunch on the terrace of the school building, hiding themselves from Khadus.

But, at last, Mr. Varma comes to know the secret place where the friends are sharing Dabbas. And in anger, he orders Stanley not to come to the school until he brings his personal tiffin. Hence, Stanley doesn’t come to school.

Here is the turning point of the story.” What would he be doing” think his friends. They give a call to Stanley’s mother but the number does not exist. After many days, one of the students sees Stanley strolling outside the school and informs the friends. They all run and meet Stanley. Meanwhile, there is a concert in the school and from the school one promising student has to be sent to the Concert. Friends inform Stanley about it and Stanley directly goes there.

When Miss Rosy, an English teacher, comes back to the class, the boys tell why Stanley is not coming to the school. In that reaction, Miss Roey offers Mr. Varma her Tiffin and other teachers come to know about Khadus’ behavior with Stanley. Internally, Khadus repents. Stanley gets a chance to perform in Concert and he comes back to school with surprise, the Dabba. He tells that his mother has made. He also offers Khadus his Dabba. Here is a moving seen. Khadus cannot talk to Stanley and tells that he has resigned from the school.

On the other side, after the concert when everybody leaves for home, Rosy admires Stanley and asks for a lift. But, Stanley tells that her mother has come with car and waiting. A school principal leaves Stanley his home. And the heart-touching moment come. We get shocked seeing the situation. Sometimes, seeing is not believing. But, the fact is fact. We cannot ignore reality.
We come to know that Stanley is being exploited as a child labor. His parents are dead. He lives with his uncle whom he doesn’t consider as an uncle. Stanley works at his uncle’s hotel at night and eats the food which is left.

Really, Amole Gupte has presented the reality in one and half hour time. Now, it is up to us. It is our responsibility to help over 12 million Stanleys working around in India. I think if we join hands and work together, by some span of time, we can do a little. And, sometime, a little is too Much…

If heart melted, sms STANLEY TO 57827 to pledge your support against child labour. Or, log on to www.stanleykadabba.com to contribute to ‘The Tree of Hope’

Life

What is life ? To write about life is not every body's cup of tea. However, I would like to share my personal experience about life. I believe that "Life is a celebration". A continuous celebration. It is what you pass through and how you take it. If we sit and ponder about Life, we will be confused and nowhere. It is like reality vs illusion or illusion vs reality.

Let's take realistic picture of it. Life is a journey between birth and death. And, in this journey, half of the time is spent on sleeping. It means not doing anything. But, sleep has its own value. Sleep is the actual growth for tomorrow. It energies us for better work.

On the other side, we are waked up. Doing our daily processes. This is the period what we understand it as a Life. Life means growth, progress, continuity. People want to achieve something for nothing. We try to do what we haven't done yet. If we minutely observe our thinking process and the action taken afterward, we come to know that it is just trying to catch mirage. That is the reason, so many great persons' have called life a Mystery.

Yes, it is a mystery. so why to think so much about a mirage ? Just, let's rock on. Celebrate your existence. Live moment to moments. This is the way to live life lively. And it can be rich and abundance. Feel gratitude towards what you have and be thankful to everyone. Also be compassionate... Slowly and gradually, life will be much more rich and richer and ...

Joyous living.

Are we developed ?

Today's era is known as modern time. And, we also know it as '21st Century'. This is the time when we have the best technology available to make life easy. In each and every field such as science, computer, business, industry, education and so on... we are at the best.

However, simultaneously, people are suffering. The invention is not helpful in its fullest way. Because of much use of any product invented through science, the human being is passing through the chaos. People are mentally sick though they have enough to live. Is this called "DEVELOPMENT ?". Some of the good natured are making us aware about the environment. They are shouting and appealing the whole human being to save the planet earth.

You see, how poor we are ! We have to learn to save water, save electricity, grow trees and what not... And this is the reason I have a question : "are we developed ?".

Lets be aware of what we are doing to give something better to the next generation.
